NETFLIX ROLLS OUT MOBILE GAMES

Netflix Inc has launched its mobile games worldwide for members with Android devices and has broken new ground as competition grows in the home territory of the video streaming pioneer.

Users only need a Netflix subscription to play these games and there won’t be any additional fees or in-app purchases, the company said.

Offering free games to current subscribers reflects the strategy Netflix used in moving from a mail-order DVD store to streaming movies.

The entry into the gaming business was announced in July as the company faced a sharp drop in new customer numbers after years of rapid expansion, a pandemic-induced boom in 2020, and fierce competition from companies like Disney + and HBO-Max.

Netflix has already introduced its games like “Stranger Things: 1984”, “Stranger Things 3: The Game”, “Card Blast”, “Teeter Up” and “Shooting Hoops” titles on Android to Netflix members in Spain, Italy and Poland .

The streaming giant also bought video game developer Night School Studio in September and launched five mobile game titles in select European markets.
